This professional and eye-catching ice cream electrical shopfitting project was done in collaboration with Chapter Design, a multi-disciplined creative studio that offers expertise in many areas to give visual identity to events and interiors. This project involved the transformation of an old phone store into an ice cream shop, and Roclec provided the necessary electrical shopfitting services.
They wanted to transform the place into a frozen yoghurt bar in Cork City that many of you might already know as Swoon. It was the opening of their first shop in Oliver Plunkett street. Chapter Design did the full brand and interiors fit-out, and they called us to provide the electrical expertise to support their stunning design. We had a site meeting with the designers and received all the drawings from them. At the beginning of the project we went through all the specifications and requirements; the size of the machines and all the details from the commercial kitchen specialist, for example. Then we had to liaise with the ESB engineers because they needed to upgrade to a three-phase supply. As well as the imaginative lighting and essential kitchen fridges freezers etc, our team of registered electricians did the CCTV, the security and the emergency lighting.
If you haven’t been there yet – you should, they do delicious fro-yo ice creams! The shop has a disruptive and edgy identity that’s clearly given through bright colors and LED Lighting. The innovative lighting was a challenge because it required unusual designs, but we were able to source with what they wanted. The lights were specially ordered for them from one of our suppliers.
For the duration of the project we kept liaising with Chapter Design in relation with the full project and with Swoon as well. The job was done before the opening of the new shop with a deadline set by the customer. They were very happy with the results – as were we!
